HowTo: Overclocking the Acer Ferrari One CPU (Update 2)

I managed to overclock my Acer Ferrari One CPU (AMD Athlon X2 L310) to 1380Mhz!

The SuperPi 1M runs 10s faster (changed from 1:12 to 1:02), the Windows 7 performance index increased from 3.6 to 3.9 in CPU performance and also from 3.3 to 3.5 in graphics performance (More benchmarks to follow…):

For the overclocking you need only one tool:

SETFSB

Here you have to choose the right PLL, which is SLG8LP625T, it´s not 100% compatible, but you can raise the FSB up to 1380Mhz:

SetFSB

After that, you can check the chosen FSB-setting in CPU-Z:

CPUZ

Quite easy.

    Congrats! :-)

I need your advise: within 2 weeks, I want to buy a netbook. I have two favorits:

Ferrari One with dual core AMD and ATI 3200, and Asus EEE 1201 with dual core Atom and Ion platform. Wich is the best for some gaming and mostly CPU based applications (photo and music editing)?

Thanks, and keep up the good work with your cool site! :-)

Thank you! I would prefer the Ferrari One, because the CPU is better than the ATOM N330 ( 3DMark 2006 CPU-Score 859/999oced vs. 767; see http://hothardware.com/articleimages/Item1428/1201n-3dmark06-chart2.png ) and you have the option with the external graphics card, which will give you an extra boost.

I bought my ferrari One 2 weeks ago and love it . I just bought fallout 3 and would like a little extra juice so I started looking around and found this software. I am about to try this but was curious about how stable it ran. Does it ever overheat when pushed hard at your settings? How many frames can i expect from fallout on low? Also, I can’t find any proof that this shipset is limited to 4gb ram. I know Win7 home premium supports 16gb so whats stopping us from using (2) 4gb dimms?

    Hi Sean!

How playable the Fallout 3 on Ferrari? Runs smooth or laggy? How detailed?

    Thx.

I run 1024×768 with all eye candy off and I get smoooooth frames. Never checked actual fps but it’s stutter free. Raising up to 1333native looks excellent but starts to stutter. I run this over an Optoma 719 projector and it looks great with an 85″ screen.

Can anyone verify 4gb as the actual “max” ram? I am about to buy an 8gb set bu need some feedback 1st!

Been trying to get the GPU overclock working but it seems i messed something up

Unfortunatelyu couldn’t start SETBSB at Win7-x64on my Acer Ferrari One. In the beginning it asks me to enter a number. Whatever I enter it says:
    “This version is a shreware!
When I confirm your donation with SETFSB ID number, I will send you activation key.
    1. You must not open your activation key to the public.
    2. You must donate 500 Japanise yen.
You can pay your donation by PayPal. Please see my URL.”
I’ve tried to download different versions of SETFSB from different websites and everywere it says that the programm supposed to be a freeware, but the same message always comes up. Could you help me with the problem please?
    Regards.
    Danil.

    Hey guys,

i read in some sites that the Acer Ferrari One can handle 8gm max ram. But the acer´s website says the max is 4gb ram. Do you know if it´s possible to upgrade the notebook to 8gb ram? Ty so much for your hrlp.
