HowTo: Overclock the GPU of the Acer Ferrari One (ATI HD 3200)
Today I managed to overclock the graphics controller of my Acer Ferrari One, the method should work for all netbooks or notebooks with the RS780-chipset. The Windows performance index increased from 4.9 to 5.1 in game performance, 3DMark2006 increased to 1396 3DMarks (with 610Mhz/1380Mhz GPU/CPU-clock).
Use it at your own risk! Read more after the break!
You need to install 2 tools for overclocking the GPU and checking the correct clockspeed:
AMD GPU Clock Tool v.9.26.0
AMD Overdrive
After the installing process you need to start those 2 programs. Then you choose the desired clock speed in the AMD GPU clock tool by entering the clock-value with your keyboard and click the button Set clocks:

After that the GPU clock tool will display a incorrect value:

You have to look up the correct clock-speed in AMD Overdrive:

That´s all… More benchmarks to follow…

UPDATE: Some more benchmarks:
3DMark 2001 with 645 Mhz GPU- / 1380Mhz CPU-clock:
6954 3DMarks (5710 with stock clocks)
3DMark 2006 with 645 Mhz GPU- / 1380Mhz CPU-clock:
1424 3DMarks (1084 with stock clocks)
SM 2.0 Score 467 (363)
SM 3.0 Score 592 (434)
CPU Score 1002 (859)
Been trying to make this work right but the softeware seems glitchy. I only get a higher GPU clock speed if I enter a number higher than 600. Sounds wierd but then I get a jump from 380mhz to 760mhz. I think 760 is too high for the factory cooling. Any ideas why i’m not sdeeing your numbers?
I tried to modify the GPU clock but it seems that this is set to 350 and i can’t change it :/
mfg
I scored a 3.6 at windows Aero performance, with cpu at 1380 and gpu to 650MHZ…
Dont try 700mhz because gpu will fail and performance is poor.
Thanks for the article
